Solution for Mustapha! Thanks to all for your solidarity.
After 4 far too long months, a solution has been reached for Gorillas rider Mustapha, who got into serious trouble after an accident. We cannot make any statements about the content of the agreements. What we can share is our boundless gratitude for the solidarity both from the Netherlands and across the border.
The word is Mustapha’s:
Hi all Radical Rider members,
It was a long and difficult period. This is one of the most difficult period I have ever experienced in my life. Fortunately, it has come to a positive end.
I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the support and help I have received. I don’t know how it would have turned out if I had to do this on my own. Perhaps I had still been busy or had given up hope. Don’t think I would have done the 2nd option. I never give up 😉 no matter what situation I am in. Even if I have to die.
It is very nice to see how someone gets so much support and help from home and abroad. From collecting money to demonstrating etc etc. I especially want to thank Sjerp. It is unbelievable what this man has to offer. I mean just having a multimillion-possibly billion-dollar company competing while you’re in a burnout that’s not nothing.
I’m glad this is behind me and I’m now going to focus on positivity.
Thank you all ❤️❤️❤️
We continue to urge Gorillas to adopt a proper protocol regarding accidents. Whether the bicycles is good or bad, accidents happen in traffic, and that should never lead to people personally getting into serious trouble. That’s the boss’s responsibility. We expect Gorillas to come up with improvement plans in the near future.
In the meantime we are tired but also very satisfied. Nothing can be said about the solution. But it was nice to see all that international solidarity and action. Together we sent something like 200 emails as a first action. In Berlin, Gorillas commercials were tackled out of solidarity. We were present in de the media and, with Mustapha’s case as illustration, denounced the lack of safety at Gorillas as a whole. More than a thousand euros were raised through a solidarity appeal, including on solidarity cooking events. We first tried to resolve the matter in a civil manner through the institutions, but that was impossible. Mustapha and Sjerp have in this even paid a visit to the insurance company at Zuidas. And… so it came down to ourselves and we busted into Gorillas’ headquarters. Fantastic.
